Data acquisition was a significant parameter when designing and assembling the Pneumatic Rotary Press for an existing Asian customer of Black Bros. This data acquisition feature allows every aspect of this machine to be networked back to the mainframe of the machine. This amazing Press took 12 weeks to design in Black Bros. Engineering Department and 4 weeks to build and assemble. It's a pioneer in technology amongst its competitors, with its computerized features, options and automatic web-tension control.
Everything is computer monitored. From sensing the laminating force, temperature of the roll or oil heater, the innovative Rotary Press is an outstanding machine that transmits messages regarding the status of every area of the machine back to the main computer system. "It's a very advanced and complex machine. The design process of this machine was extremely intricate and precise, but also completely fascinating. Every time I design a machine for this particular customer, they keep growing more sophisticated
and highly developed," said Joe Bertrand, Senior Design Engineer at Black Bros.
Built for a clean room, this machine has mobile tables on both the infeed and outfeed sides which allow easy access to the Rotary Press. Servo drives automatically adjust roll opening and outfeed nip rollers.
