Community Involvement

BBCO_HOMEMendota, Illinois (founded 1853) is located 90 miles southwest of Chicago in the Heartland of America. It has a rich history rooted in agriculture and "the golden era of railroads." Mendota, an Indian word meaning the "meeting of the trails", was so named because of the intersection of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, and Illinois Central Railroads. We are proud of our community history, and have a work ethic which runs deep in this talent-rich community. Black Bros. holds the distinction of being "Mendota's Oldest Industry." Black Bros. is well known throughout our community as a premier place of employment. This reputation is due not only to team work, excellent wages, benefits, and family-oriented values and events, but to our efforts as a corporate citizen donating tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of volunteer time to the Mendota area communities each year.
